Character expectations
- Builds: You are welcome to min-max, provided it does not detract from the experiences of other players.
- Backstories: Backstories should be fairly brief and somewhat down-to-earth. Your character’s past will definitely influence the campaign where relevant.
- Character party fit: Your character should do their best to, at the very least, get along with other party members. This is not to say that characters all need to agree, but they should be willing to discuss and compromise.
- Behaviour: Characters should not seek to intentionally derail the campaign / negatively affect other player characters.
- PVP: Player vs Player is forbidden, unless both players consent.
Character creation
- Races: Races found in the Mortal Races page are permitted. The DM should be consulted on other races first.
- Classes: All classes and subclasses in official and critical role content are allowed. This includes the Blood Hunter.
- Stats: Stats are determined via point buy. Racial bonuses can be reallocated to any stat.
- Alignment: Characters should (ideally) not be evil-aligned.
- Reflavouring: Class abilities and weapons can be reflavoured into other things (within reason) - e.g reflavouring a bow into a gun, or a paladin’s lay on hands as a nonmagical injection.
Progression
- Experience: EXP will be granted via milestone levelling, and will reflect the progression of the story. Level ups will occur at the end of the session.
- Narrative: There will be an overarching story that begins at level 1 and ends at level 17+. Exploration and travel is encouraged, but ignoring the main plot will have consequences.
- In-universe adventurers: Expect competition and jealousy. Not all adventurers you meet will be the default, good-aligned monster slayer.
- Politics and factions: Factions will react to the actions of your party, and your party will need to adapt to changes in the world. Factions can be joined when the opportunity presents itself.
DM style
- Ruling: If adjusting the rules (temporarily or otherwise) would make the game better for everyone, then I am welcoming to the possibility.
- Environments and spells: Spells will interact with the environment, both in terms of effectiveness and reliability.
