Millennia before recorded history, an unknown event spawned a massive amount of raw magical energy. As the hot state of its raw energy began to cool, it would coalesce into two forms: Shar, the goddess of darkness, and Selune, the goddess of light. Living in perfect balance, the two of them saw boundless potential and a chance to learn about their place within the disorder of the universe. And so, they began to tame the chaos around them.

Firstly, they named the vast expanse of space around them the Astral Sea. Within its emptiness, the two deities syphoned their energies to create a wheel of four primordial planes: Water, fire, earth and air. As the energies of these planes mixed in the epicentre of the Astral Sea, the material plane was created. It was not perfect, however, and so the sisters set about correcting it. They moved the bright, suffocating anomalies to a higher plane, and the dark, strangling ones to a lower plane. These would eventually be known as the Feywild and Shadowfell respectively.

Their initial work done, Shar and Selune channelled the energy of the primordial planes to create the life - first were the elves, then the dwarves, then the humans, and other races that swiftly followed. These children of the gods lived short, violent lives. To help them withstand the chaos of this tumultuous land, the gods gave their children small slivers of their essence, resulting in the birth of divine magic.

And thus, the Divine Age began, and this world was named Eos. For centuries, the mortal races flourished beneath the guidance of their Gods. The elves followed Oghma into the Feywild and made their homes there, leaving the material plane to dwarven warlord Gildac Redhelm. He would become the first ruler, waging a relentless campaign for the western continent under the banner of Tempus. With the help of Farendis, Marenna was then conquered by the humans, led by legendary explorer and cartographer Percival Marr.

Eventually, mages learnt to draw power directly from the bleeding mana of the spirit realm, leading to the birth of arcane magic. Seeing that their assistance was no longer necessary, the divine distanced themselves, and a new era was ushered in. It was here — at the beginning of the Mortal Age — that the Redhelm empire fell to the ascendant Naivara Caelora, who rose as sovereign and bestowed her name upon the western continent. Now, the populace has gathered within sprawling cities, while the untamed frontiers of the frozen north, shadowed forests, and veiled mountains offer boundless opportunities for adventurers to carve their legends into history.

To the east remains the sister continent of Marenna, a land divided into four geographically distinct regions. The corrupted wastes of Fundament are hidden away in the far north, only called home by the drow and warped creatures beyond comprehension. From the heart of the continent expanding westwards is the great Vzera desert, a dry and harsh land sparsely dotted with the reprieve of lush gardens, rivers and seaside cities. East of the desert lies the old world of Cintra, decorated by sprawling expanses of forests, plains and mountains. And just south one may find the tropic nations, a prospering alliance of trade, freedom and beauty.

In a time where ruinous powers seek their return, who would stand up in defiance?
